This section of the Change Your Mind manual describes a 6 session program of 2 hour weekly groups that will assist in strengthing a participants motivation to access treatment. It will also help them understand the change process and "how change happens", as well as help them identify the "mistaken thinking" that can generate roadblocks to that change.
The sesions all have a similar structure of two exercises or interactive presentations, there is homework given out and reviewed at every session, and there is limited time for distraction or diversion from the program material. If someone presents an issue they need to process about, ask them t wait to speak to you at break or after group.
We suggest you review the six sessions in order and familiarize yourself with the material and then practice the presentations and exercises with peers, to get a sense of the process and the time required. If you are unclear about any of the concepts or treatment theories you can look in the index section for more information. However, ultimately this is a free standing program that you should be able to use by just following the detailed instructions.
In case you hadn't noticed him yet (or there is a problem with the program or your computer) we have an instructor named Ben who will help you understand how to present this work. If you don't see him or hear him you will need to follow these instructions to get him up and talking.
